Rooted in Culture, Design and Care

How We Started

In November 2019, our founder launched Taylor Melrose from a home office, driven by a need for skincare that celebrates melanin-rich skin and need to have his creative designs seen by others and not be hindered by an all white decision maker at this corporate career. In an effort to remove the barriers that stood between him and the retail buyers he set out to design a line. On November 14, 2021, with his families help they sold as vendors setting up a pop-up at a local Hollywood farmer’s market.

Taylor Melrose is proof that resilience and vision can turn obstacles into opportunities.

Fact:

In 2020, Black people represented 14.2% of the population, but only 2.4% of all employer-firm owners. If Black business ownership continues to grow at its current rate of 4.72%, it will take 256 years to reach parity with the share of Black people in America.  The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce Business Evolution Program is part of the solution to decrease this racial wealth gap.
